The History of the Agora Project Magazine came from the three brights minds of Media Studies Majors at U.C. Berkeley: Jack Owens, Charlene Petitjean and Colby Seymore. The idea came from a collaboration of brain storming ideas about how to make a website into a political realm where people could actually speak on an profusion of views and subsequently comment on them in a public forum. This was to be the answer to the problem of partisan media outlets. The name is credited to Jack and Charlene whom came up with the idea after the greek “place of assembly” where men would gather to discuss politics and military and community events. This was to be a transformation into the present time for both men and women, to all discuss, and to be heard, political opinions and world events. The idea of the site has transformed significantly but the thought still remains for this to be a place for community politics to be heard and to be contemplated. But this could not have been possible without the contributions of thought and the ideas in which Charlene, Jack and Colby came up with.
Here’s a cheers to the founders of this site!
